3:06 p.m., Nov. 13, 2009----The University of Delaware Center for Black Culture will hold a Pre-Kwanzaa Celebration starting at 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 3, in the Multipurpose Rooms of the Trabant University Center.

The event, which will feature a concert and a soul food feast, is free for full-time UD students, $15 for faculty and staff, with a limit of two tickets per person, and $22 for the general public. Reservations are required as space is limited; reservations and payments must be received by Tuesday, Dec. 1.

The headline performance will be by Five Men on a Stool, a contemporary rhythm and blues/jazz and spoken word ensemble. Based in Atlanta, the group has been sweeping the southeastern U.S. with its captivating performances. Its style is a unique blend of music and poetry designed to entertain and also enlighten audiences about the importance of community.

The event also will feature a marketplace with vendors displaying African crafts, jewelry and more.

Event sponsors include the Center for Black Culture, the Cultural Programming Advisory Board, the Black Student Union, the Each One Reach One mentoring program and Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.
