Nina Buchanan, undergraduate services coordinator in the College of Arts and Sciences, said, “Even in his darkest hours, Colin was committed to earning his bachelor's degree. When he was released from the hospital in October, we were all optimistic that he would be able to return to his studies and complete his degree in the spring semester. I was shocked and saddened to learn of his death last week; his family and friends have my deepest sympathies.”

Last summer, UD alumni organized a bone marrow donor drive for Mr. Hines. At that time, he said, “My family, friends, and I are asking you to come out and give the most precious gift of all, for me and others in need of a transplant. I have lived my life by the motto 'Make Life Count,' and now I ask you to do the same by granting the gift of life to another.”

A fan of UD football, Mr. Hines was active in the Y-Chromes and the College Democrats on the campus.

A service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 24, at St. Luke Community Christian Church, Fourth Street and Central Avenue, Chester, Pa. Viewing will be held two hours before the service.
