3:37 p.m., May 11, 2010----More than 1,200 employees attended this year's University of Delaware Benefits and Wellness Fair held May 6 in the Multipurpose Room of the Trabant University Center.

Also, more than 200 employees and retirees participated in the Screening Zone, where for 10 Wellness dollars individuals could receive a variety of health screenings.

"We were pleased to be able to provide employees with an expanded version of the Screening Zone during this event that resulted in a 140 percent increase over last year's program,” commented Kathy Corbitt, director of the Healthy U program. “Our staff continues to receive many positive comments about the benefits and the convenience of the screenings that were offered in addition to the numerous resources that were available to them at this event."

This year, over 43 benefit providers and non-profit organizations participated in the fair, providing information, give-a-ways and door prizes

Door prize winners are as follows:

  • Kristen Scully, Student Health Services, won a fleece blanket from the American Diabetes Association
  • Ruth Smith, Dining Services, won a gym bag with water bottle courtesy of Christina Care
  • Nadine Bangerter, Arts and Sciences, won a comfort basket courtesy of Delaware Hospice;
  • Linda Stacy, Student Health Services, won a gift bag courtesy of the Delawell Program;
  • Lindsey Vitalo, IT-Client Services, won several Health Books courtesy of Diabetes Prevention and Control Program;
  • Ginny Greene, Art Conservation, won a Cheesecake Factory gift card courtesy of Family and Workplace Connection;
  • Yuk Leung, Mathematical Sciences, won iPod speakers courtesy of Fidelity;
  • Sarah Yarrusso, Recruitment, won sunglasses courtesy of Halpern Eye Associates;
  • Cheryl Bush, Animal and Food Sciences, won an iPod Shuffle courtesy of Hartford (disability);
  • Dayle Thorpe, Assistant Provost Office, won a Dunkin Donut gift card courtesy of Hartford Life;

Also, Robin Buccos, Health Sciences, won the jar of healthy snacks courtesy of Human Resources for her guessing the correct amount of items (185) in the “Guess How Many?” contest.
