The program, used throughout ARAMARK's entire Higher Education line of business, enables managers to recognize outstanding efforts by their employees. Those who are recognized could receive a monthly monetary prize and could potentially be entered into a year-end national drawing for a $2,500 award.

Eligibility for the year-end drawing includes receiving a THRIVE recognition for each of the THRIVE brand attributes: Thoughtful, Heartfelt, Results Driven, Innovative, Valued, and Trusted and Engaged. Moore was recognized for each of these brand attributes resulting in his entry for the national drawing.

When Sue Bogan, resident district manager for Dining Services, called Moore with the good news, he and his managers were elated. Moore said he planned to spend a portion of the prizes on his three grandchildren, and he also has been saving for them to assist in their academic pursuits.

“I appreciate the fact they allow me to serve,” Moore said. “Thank you for drawing me as the THRIVE award winner. I pray I continue to thrive in all aspects of my job.”

Moore, known to his co-workers and managers as Ed or Moose, started working at UD in 1975 as a utility worker at Rodney Dining Hall. For the next 32 years, he worked in five campus dining locations -- Perkins Student Center, Kent, Harrington, Rodney and Russell, include 12 years as a B Cook. He retired on Aug. 30, 2007, and then one week later he rejoined the University of Delaware Dining Team as an ARAMARK employee.

Currently, he works as a utility worker in Kent Dining Hall with Mark Mogul, food service director, and Robert Carroll, food production manager.
