9:36 a.m., June 30, 2010----A total of 148 University of Delaware student-athletes from winter and spring sports were recently honored for their work in the classroom as members of the Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll team.
Student-athletes from the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's outdoor track and field, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's lacrosse, softball, baseball, golf, and rowing were recognized for having a grade point average of 3.2 or better for the spring semester and/or as a cumulative average.
A total of 51 Blue Hen student-athletes were honored on the CAA fall academic team in February, giving Delaware a total of 199 CAA Academic Honor Roll recipients for the 2009-10 academic year -- nearly a third of all Blue Hen student-athletes.
Broken down by sport, Delaware had 34 student-athletes honored in women's outdoor track and field, 27 in women's rowing, 23 in men's outdoor track and field, 10 in men's swimming and diving, nine each in men's tennis and women's lacrosse, eight in women's swimming and diving, seven in softball, five each in men's lacrosse and women's tennis, four in women's basketball, three in baseball, and two each in golf and men's basketball.
Nine Blue Hen student-athletes recorded a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the spring semester -- men's track and field runners Ed Bonnevie and Gregg Cantwell, softball player Cecile Egan, rowers Ashley Maguire and Meredith Rubin, women's lacrosse player Morgan Marino, women's swimmer Sarah Van Doren, women's tennis player Megan Doran, and women's track and field pole vaulter Cassandra Wallen.
