For many years, the library has been acquiring printed books from Springer in a variety of science and technology areas as well as books in business, the humanities and the social sciences. Beginning in 2010, the library will be acquiring most Springer books only in electronic format.

Through an arrangement with Springer, the library will provide unlimited campus-wide access to nearly 3,000 electronic books to be published in 2010 plus nearly all electronic books published by Springer in 2005 and 2006. Users may download Springer eBooks to their PCs, laptops, or portable devices. Springer eBooks are listed on the library “Databases” page.

Access to the content of Springer eBooks is provided via Springer's platform for electronic resources, SpringerLink. Users are able to conduct a search in SpringerLink and get results from Springer eBooks as well as from Spring eJournals and other resources. Additional access points for Springer eBooks, including DELCAT, will be available in the near future.

According to the licensing agreement, Springer eBooks is available only to students, faculty, and staff of the University of Delaware.
