During the meeting, Christie, a noted supporter of UD and Blue Hens athletics, was presented with a vintage UD hockey jersey.

"It was a great opportunity to meet with the governor and just chat about hockey, sports in general, and life like two regular guys," said DeAngelis. "He loves UD and knows his sports. With our hosting of the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League (ESCHL) playoffs in a couple of weeks and hosting the 2011 American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) national championships, hopefully we'll see Gov. Christie catching a hockey game at the Fred Rust Arena in the future."

UD has two regular season games remaining in the 2009-10 season, both against ESCHL rival West Chester University this weekend. The Blue Hens will travel to West Chester on Friday, Feb. 12, for a game at 9:15 p.m. at the Ice Line and then return home to Newark for a 5 p.m. home game on Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Fred Rust Arena.

ESCHL playoff information will be announced next week.
