2:16 p.m., Dec. 16, 2009----The University Shuttle Bus will run on a temporary schedule for the end of the fall semester through the winter break and Winter Session.
Changes include:
--a special shuttle on Friday, Dec. 18, that will connect the Newark campus to the Wilmington Train Station to help students get home for winter break;
--the Winter Dining Express, which will provide daily service between Laird Campus and UD Dining facilities; and
--the suspension of the Morris Library late night route service during Winter Session, returning for the spring semester.
Through Saturday, Feb. 6, the University Shuttle Bus schedule will be adjusted for exams, holidays and Winter Session. Day-by-day details are available at the Transportation Web site.
Special shuttle for Friday, Dec. 18
New this year, a special shuttle will make two trips to the Wilmington Train Station on Friday, Dec. 18. The shuttle will make a campus loop for pickup and arrive at the Wilmington Train Station, where students can connect to Amtrak and SEPTA service to points beyond. The Wilmington Train Station stop also serves the Greyhound Bus Terminal, which is located across the street.
Reservations for the shuttle may be made by noon, Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Transportation Web site or by calling 831-1187. The cost is $5 for the one-way trip.
Due to increased traffic on Dec. 18, the Red/Yellow Express will make on-demand stops on South College at the Newark Train Station pull-off.
Winter Dining Express
Beginning with dinner on Sunday, Jan. 3, the Winter Dining Express will connect students from Laird Campus to UD Dining facilities in a continuous loop beginning one half hour before each meal period until one half hour after breakfast, lunch and brunch, and one hour after dinner. Monday through Friday, the loop will make three stops on Laird Campus before stopping at Rodney Dining Hall. Saturday and Sunday, the Winter Dining Express will expand to incorporate Kent Dining Hall in the continuous loop. Students who would like to dine at Kent Dining Hall on the weekdays can use the Laird Campus route. Pencader Dining Hall will be closed during Winter Session for renovations.
Morris Library route service suspended for Winter Session
The Morris Library late night route will not operate during Winter Session in keeping with the library's modified hours of operation. All other University Shuttle Bus routes will run on a regular schedule during Winter Session.
