1:41 p.m., Aug. 12, 2009----The votes are in and the winner of the 2009 Xtreme Delaware Family Makeover contest is the Johnson family of Pelham, N.Y., which received the most votes in online balloting. The prize? A semester's worth of textbooks courtesy of the University Bookstore.
Garrett Johnson will be coming to UD this fall as a freshman in the College of Agriclture and Natural Resources.
Each day at DelaWorld 2009, the UD Bookstore awarded a randomly chosen family a $200 gift certificate to purchase UD-licensed merchandise at the bookstore. Before heading off to redeem their gift certificates, the winners were asked to submit an “after” photo sporting their new UD look with hats, pennants, T-shirts and shorts. In all, 12 families submitted “after” photos for the contest.
“The UD Bookstore staff really enjoys hosting this event each year at DelaWorld," Jennifer Galt, general manager of the UD Bookstore, said. "It's a great way to kick off the UD experience."
