1:37 p.m., Sept. 9, 2008----University of Delaware students will find it easy to get to football games at Delaware Stadium this fall thanks to shuttle bus service offered through the cooperative efforts of Athletics and Transportation Services.
“Student support is an important part of Blue Hens athletics, and we are pleased to work with Transportation Services to make bus service possible,” Curt Krouse, assistant director of athletics for marketing, said.
“Transportation Services backs the Hens and is happy to help students get to and from the games,” Shearee Moore, service supervisor, said.
Student section tickets are free and available on game day at Delaware Stadium on a first-come, first-served basis (subject to availability) by presenting a valid UD ID card.
Gates at Delaware Stadium open two hours before kickoff and the shuttle schedules will begin two and one-half hours before kickoff and continue until one hour after the game has ended. Buses will run continuously through that period.
For the first three home games of the season, all with 6 p.m. kickoffs, the shuttle buses will begin rolling at 3:30. UD will play evening games against West Chester University on Saturday, Sept. 13, the University at Albany on Saturday, Sept. 27, and the University of Maine on Saturday, Oct. 11. Additional buses will be added for the Albany game, which is Parents and Family Weekend.
Buses will roll at 9:30 a.m. for the games to be played at noon, Saturday, Oct. 18, against the College of William and Mary, which is Homecoming, and Saturday, Nov. 8, against Towson University.
For the final home game of the regular season, scheduled at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 22, against Villanova University, buses will roll at noon.
The Laird Campus bus to Delaware Stadium will have stops at: Ray Street, Hollowell Drive, Christiana Towers, Rodney, Dickinson, Towne Court Apartments and South College Avenue in front of the Delaware Field House, adjacent to the stadium. This bus will have an additional stop northbound at the Smith Hall overpass on the way back to campus.
The South and East Campus bus will have stops at: Perkins Student Center, University Courtyard Apartments, School Lane Garden Apartments (loop in and out), Smith Hall overpass and the Delaware Field House.
The West Campus bus will have stops at: Rodney, Dickinson, Towne Court and the Delaware Field House. This bus will have an additional stop northbound at the Smith Hall overpass on the way back to campus.
Post-game, buses will pick students up at the Delaware Field House with subsequent stops at the Perkins Student Center, University Courtyard Apartments, School Lane Garden Apartments, Smith overpass, Ray Street, Hollowell Drive, Christiana Towers, Rodney/Dickinson and Towne Court Apartments.
Students attending UD football games are reminded that backpacks are not allowed to be taken inside Delaware Stadium. Backpacks should not be brought to the games.
Students should go to the northwest or southwest entrances of the stadium.
