Newark Community Day offers activities for the whole family to enjoy, including live entertainment by local artists throughout the day. A food court area will be located on Delaware Avenue, and many dining and retail specials will be available on Main Street.

Local organizations will set up displays on The Green to provide information about their services and answer questions about the local community.

A bazaar will be held behind Sypherd Hall featuring a variety of antiques and collectibles, from fabrics and vintage clothing to dolls, books and baseball cards.

Booths and other activities for kids also will be featured, along with the popular Make Your Own Scarecrow family event. For $5 per scarecrow, participants get to create their own scarecrow from heaps of multi-colored shirts, pants and scrap materials.

Rain date is Sunday, Sept. 21. For more information, call the Newark Parks and Recreation Department at (302) 366-7060.
