Amtrak announces added Newark train frequency

10:03 a.m., Sept. 4, 2008----Amtrak has added additional northbound frequency on Friday afternoons from Newark, Del., toward New York, and additional southbound frequency on Sunday afternoons from New York to Newark.

Amtrak added the additional service during the summer and looks forward to University of Delaware students taking advantage of the additional travel options, according to Ben Cornelius, senior director of network scheduling.

On Fridays, Amtrak has departures from Newark at:

  • 2:26 p.m., Train 186 to Philadelphia, Trenton, Metropark, Newark Airport, Newark, N.J., and New York, with connections in New York to upstate New York and New England.
  • 4:42 p.m., Train 134 to Philadelphia, Newark and New York, with connections in New York to upstate New York and New England.

On Sundays, returning to Newark, Amtrak offers these services:

  • Arriving at 5:04 p.m., Train 87 from New York, Newark, Newark Airport, Metropark, Trenton and Philadelphia, with connections in New York from upstate New York and New England.
  • Arriving at 8:03 p.m., Train 135 from Boston, Providence, New Haven and other New England stations, New York, Newark, Newark Airport, Metropark, Trenton and Philadelphia, with connections in New York from upstate New York.

Amtrak services on Mondays through Thursdays and Saturdays remain unchanged.
