This year instead of being a contestant, UD's own Dame Edna (a.k.a. Scott Mason, associate director of student centers) has been elevated to serve as mistress of ceremonies for the silent auction and game show, when contestants will be tested for their knowledge (or lack thereof) about Delaware history, events and people.

This year's “celebrities” include Michael Waite, radio host from station WJBR-FM; Galen Giaccone, Miss Delaware; Maxine Gaiber, executive director of the Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts; Vicki Huber-Rudawsky, two-time Olympian contender; Todd Chappelle, singer and songwriter; and Meg Hudson, entrepreneur co-owner of Domain Hudson wine bar and restaurant.

The silent auction will include everything from gift baskets to spa packages and sporting events tickets. The event will offer food stations with light supper fare, hors d'oeuvres, pastries and a cash bar.

The evening is sponsored by Wilmington Women in Business, the oldest and largest resource network for women in the region, and all proceeds will go to FSSF for scholarships based on need, academic performance and potential success. Since 1996, FSSF, which also provides mentoring support to women, has awarded more than $250,000 in scholarships to more than 90 women.

Tickets for the event are $55, of which $25 is tax deductible. To purchase tickets call Judy Powell at (302) 479-0120, send e-mail to [fsscholar@comcast.net] or write to FSSF, P.O. Box 7784, Wilmington, DE 19803.
