Just days before the election, UD Department of Economics experts plan to help voters unravel the confusion over the economy and provide a look at both major candidates' economic policies at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 28, in 115 Purnell Hall.

Faculty from the department will discuss all the economic issues of the campaign--including the global financial crisis, tax reform, health care, trade policy and the federal deficit. They will present their views and then answer questions from the audience.

Professors representing policies advocated by Republican presidential candidate John McCain will be:

  • Stacie Beck, associate professor of economics;
  • James Butkiewicz, professor and associate chairperson of economics; and
  • William Harris, associate professor of economics.

Professors representing policies advocated by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama will be:

  • Michael Arnold, associate professor of economics;
  • Jeffrey Miller, professor of economics; and
  • Laurence Seidman, Chaplin Tyler Professor of Economics.

The economics faculty promises, “These debaters will not duck your questions!”
