6:50 p.m., Oct. 29, 2008----U.S. Sen. Joe Biden, Democratic candidate for U.S. vice president and UD alumnus, along with his wife, alumna Jill Biden, will appear in a campaign rally at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 31, on the north side of Memorial Hall on the University of Delaware Green.

The free public "Change We Need" rally will be held rain or shine, and entrances will open at 8 a.m. Pre-program activities will begin at 9:15 a.m. Tickets are not required, but for planning purposes, those planning to attend are asked to RSVP at [http://de.barackobama.com].

University classes will meet as scheduled on Friday morning; students should check with their individual professors if they have questions about scheduling for specific classes.

There will be limited access on select campus walkways near the rally that morning.

For security reasons, attendees will not be permitted to bring bags or umbrellas, and personal items should be limited. A bag check will be available. No signs or banners will be allowed.

Some parking is available near the campus, but carpooling is advised.

Biden received his bachelor's degree from UD in 1965, with a double major in history and political science. He was awarded an honorary degree from UD in 2004. Jill Biden is a 1975 graduate, and she received her doctorate in education from UD in 2006.
