8:08 a.m., Nov. 17, 2008----The University of Delaware Office of Human Resources has announced Flexible Spending Account (FSA) enhanced services through a benefit card for the health care FSA claims.
The enrollment period for 2009 Flexible Spending Accounts continues through Friday, Nov. 21, for eligible UD employees. FSAs are voluntary accounts through which employees can set aside pretax dollars to cover out-of-pocket health care and day care expenses. The maximum annual amount an employee can contribute remains at $3,000 per employee for the health care account and $5,000 per family for the dependent day care account.
Effective for the 2009 plan year, the University's Flexible Spending Account plan will be managed by Ceridian Benefits Services, one of the world's leading providers of benefits administration.
Through Ceridian, participants in a health care FSA will be able use an FSA benefits card, a debit card that is linked to their health care FSA. This means that employees can use this new benefits card to pay eligible health care expenses directly from their flexible spending account.
A Ceridian representative will be on campus this Wednesday, Nov. 19, to present information and respond to questions. A representative will be in the Rodney Room of the Perkins Student Center at the following times: 9 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The Office of Human Resources will present information and respond to questions on Thursday, Nov. 20, in Room 219 of the Trabant University Center. Times are 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m.
Through Ceridian, participants will also have several new ways to access their FSA account, including: an automated interactive voice response system; customer service representatives; and an Internet web site (to submit a claim online, to check claim status, to see claim payments, etc.).
Benefits-eligible faculty and staff can enroll in a health care and/or dependent day care account using a web form at [www.udel.edu/flexnet].
The Human Resources staff is available to help with any questions employees have about FSA enrollment. You can reach a benefits representative by calling (302) 831-2171 or e-mailing [ben-serv@udel.edu].
