The concert is sponsored by the Student Centers Programming Advisory Board (SCPAB) at the University of Delaware, and it will be SCPAB's last major concert of the semester.

One Armed Bandits, a UD student band and the winners of SCPAB's Battle of the Bands this April, will be opening the show.

Valencia, a Philadelphia-based band, hit the music scene in 2003. Singer Shane Henderson, bassist George Ciukurescu, drummer Maxim Soria, and guitarists J.D. Perry and Brendan Walter, formed Valencia after spending time playing in various other bands.

Spin Magazine has said, “Philadelphia's Valencia seems poised for certain success. Their hooky pop melodies and emo-tinged vocals have serious potential to infect the youth of America with the same kind of contagious fervor as their Warped Tour compatriots.”

Valencia's 2005 debut, This Could Be A Possibility, and their newest release, We All Need A Reason To Believe, features songs composed with an infectious blend of guitar riffs and inspired lyrics. Their major hits include “The Space Between” (2005) and “Where Did You Go” (2008).

This young act's musicianship, mature songwriting ability, and professionalism are impressive. Valencia is currently signed to Columbia Records label. They have performed with other well-known names like Boys Like Girls, We the Kings, New Found Glory, and Say Anything and are set to perform at major music events such as Bamboozle and Warped Tour.

Valencia puts on an energetic performance to crowds of enthusiastic fans, and will be performing the first outdoor concert sponsored by SCPAB.

One Armed Bandits from Wilmington, Del., are opening for Valencia. They have won Battle of the Bands at the University of Delaware two years in a row. One Armed Bandits blends reggae, rock, and blues into a unique and interesting sound.
