3:49 p.m., May 13, 2009----The University of Delaware Board of Trustees approved faculty promotions at its spring meeting May 12 at the Trabant University Center. The appointments are effective Sept. 1.

Twenty members of the faculty were promoted to the rank of full professor with tenure: Jennifer Barker, music; Pei Chiu, civil and environmental engineering; James Corbett, marine policy; Xiang Gao, music; Guido Geerts, accounting and management information systems; Paul Head, music; Amy Johnson, nursing; Thomas Kaminski, health, nutrition and exercise sciences; Willett Kempton, marine policy; Blake Meyers, plant and soil sciences; Jeffrey Rosen, psychology; Karen Rosenberg, anthropology; David Smith, biological sciences; Joel Schneider, chemistry and biochemistry; David Stone, art history; Andrew Teplyakov, chemistry and biochemistry; David Usher, biological sciences; Uma Velury, accounting and management information systems; Barry Walker, physics and astronomy; and Lian-Ping Wang, mechanical engineering.

Three faculty members were promoted to the rank of associate professor without tenure: Norma Gaines-Hanks, human development and family studies; Eileen Grycky, music; and Julie Wilgen, human development and family studies.

Promoted to assistant professor without tenure were Karen Avino, nursing; and Bettyann Daley, mathematical sciences.

In addition, tenure was awarded to Bingqing Wei, associate professor of mechanical engineering.
