12:46 p.m., May 4, 2009----Kal Penn, actor and academic perhaps best known for his roles in the movie Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle and the television series House, will speak at the University of Delaware at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, in Mitchell Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Penn will speak on the topic “Changing the Racial Landscape” in an Asian Heritage Month 2009 presentation sponsored by the UD Office of Multicultural Programs and the Asian Student Association.

In his lecture, Penn will discuss Asian typecasting and tokenism in the media. This lecture promises to be an enlightening event as it will offer progressive solutions to the problems of race in the media today.

Penn is a native of New Jersey who attended the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). He made is feature film debut in 1998 in Express: Aisle to Glory, and since has appeared in such films as Harold and Kumar, National Lampoon's Van Wilder and Malibu's Most Wanted.

Penn served as a guest instructor at the University of Pennsylvania in 2008.
