Aggravated menacing

Newark Police arrested Quay Cobb, 24, of Newark, and charged him with four counts of aggravated menacing and other related charges after an incident early in the morning of Sunday, March 8.

After Cobb was ejected by the staff of Grotto Pizza at 45 East Main St. in Newark, he waited in the rear parking lot of the business until 3:30 a.m., when employees left the restaurant. He confronted the employee who had him removed from the restaurant and challenged him to a fight. The employee, and three coworkers accompanying him, ignored Cobb, who produced a handgun from his waistband and told the employees to get in their car and leave. Cobb then walked away.

A responding officer located Cobb in a neighboring parking lot. When the officer drew his weapon, Cobb threw his gun to the ground. After Cobb was in custody, the officer recovered the gun and discovered it was a BB gun.

After being charged, Cobb posted a bond of $10,000 and was released under the condition that he have no contact with the victims or Grotto Pizza.

Information about this incident should be reported to Officer Robert Vernon at (302) 366-7110, ext. 452, or at [Robert.Vernon@cj.state.de.us].

Unlawful credit card use, burglary

Newark Police arrested Christopher B. Sands, a former employee of Subway restaurant at 165 East Main St., and charged him with two crimes related to the business.

On March 5, it was discovered that Sands, 22, of Newark, had unlawfully used a customer's credit card. When the customer paid for a purchase with a credit card, Sands swiped the card a second time and took the cash amount from the register. He was charged with unlawful use of a credit card and released on his signature. He was fired by Subway management.

Just before 1 a.m., March 6, Sands used his employee key to enter the Subway and deactivate the alarm. He removed $300 cash from the business, then secured the store and left. He was arrested the same day and charged with third degree burglary and theft. He was committed to the Howard Young Correctional Facility in default of $1,500 bond.

Anyone with information about these incidents or who may have been a victim of Sands' credit card scam at the restaurant should contact Officer Adam Stevens at (302) 366-7110, ext. 434, or at [Adam.Stevens@cj.state.de.us].
