4:35 p.m., Jan. 9, 2009----Newark Police have announced the arrest of two men and charged them with the armed robbery of two University of Delaware students on Dec. 7, 2008. Arrest warrants were obtained based on information from a citizen's tip.
Arrested were Harry Bodine Jr., 28, and Leslie C. Ramsey, 23, both of New Castle.
On Dec. 7, two UD male UD students were walking in the 100 block of Haines Street around 1:45 a.m., when they passed two men walking in the opposite direction. Immediately after they passed, one of the students was struck in the back of the head by one of the suspects. The suspect had a silver handgun and struck the victim in the face with the hand that held the gun. He then took the victim's wallet and ordered him to the ground. The second suspect kept watch on the victim, while the first suspect approached the other victim. He hit the second victim in the face while still holding the gun in his hand. The victim was ordered to the ground, and the suspect removed his cell phone from his pocket.
