Gov. Ruth Ann Minner has declared Aug. 29 College Colors Day throughout the state, noting in her declaration that “College Colors Day promotes higher education in Delaware through increased public awareness of our institutions of higher education and celebrates the achievements of colleges and universities in our state.”

UD President Patrick Harker said, “We are pleased to participate in an event that highlights the enormous value of higher education, and we urge students and parents, faculty and staff, and alumni and friends of the University of Delaware to join in College Colors Day by proudly wearing the Blue and Gold.”

To help loyal Blue Hens show their colors, the University Bookstore will offer 20 percent off one logo clothing item on both Thursday, Aug. 28, and Friday, Aug. 29.

College Colors Day, organized by the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), is an annual celebration dedicated to promote the traditions and spirit of the college experience by encouraging people across America to wear apparel of their favorite college or university throughout the day on Aug. 29.

Additionally, College Colors Day, which coincides with “back to school” and the kick-off of intercollegiate athletics, strives to advocate higher education through increased public awareness, and celebrates the achievements of colleges and universities, acknowledging their fundamental importance.
