Why do I always have to log on to Strauss?

These X-terminals are controlled using a protocol called XDMCP, and Strauss is the XDMCP host. This means you will always start your X-terminal session on Strauss. You can use the pop-up Root Menu to open windows on other systems. Remember when you are done with the X-terminals you must terminate the X-session. This is not the same as logging off each of the computers. You can stop the X-session by choosing the "Quit and Logout" selection of the Root Menu.
