How to Remove Other Anti-Virus Programs from a Windows 7 Computer
Some software conflicts with McAfee VirusScan. If your computer has other
anti-virus software you should remove that software before
installing the UD-customized version of McAfee VirusScan. Other common anti-virus software includes,
but is not limited to, the following:
- Any pre-installed McAfee product
- avast!
- AVG Anti-Virus
- BitDefender
- Bullguard
- eTrust
- F-secure
- Kaspersky Anitvirus
- Norton Antivirus or Internet Security
- Panda Antivirus
- PC-cillin
- Trend Micro's HouseCall
How to remove other anti-virus programs
NOTE
You should also remove
copies of McAfee VirusScan that are from
sources other than the University of Delaware (e.g., a promotional copy that came
with your computer, a copy that you purchased with a retail license, or a copy
from a previous school or employer).
- Click Start.
- Click Control Panel.
- Click Programs.
- Under Programs and Features, click Uninstall or change a program.
- Click to highlight the name of the
program you want to remove.
- Click Uninstall (as indicated by the red arrow in the following graphic).

- Repeat steps 5 and 6 until all
programs you want to remove have been uninstalled.
- When you finish removing programs, close the
Programs and Features window.
- If prompted to do so, reboot your computer.
