How to Remove Other Anti-Virus Programs from a Windows 7 Computer


Some software conflicts with McAfee VirusScan. If your computer has other anti-virus software you should remove that software before installing the UD-customized version of McAfee VirusScan. Other common anti-virus software includes, but is not limited to, the following:


How to remove other anti-virus programs

NOTE
You should also remove copies of McAfee VirusScan that are from sources other than the University of Delaware (e.g., a promotional copy that came with your computer, a copy that you purchased with a retail license, or a copy from a previous school or employer).
  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Control Panel.
  3. Click Programs.
  4. Under Programs and Features, click Uninstall or change a program.
  5. Click to highlight the name of the program you want to remove.
  6. Click Uninstall (as indicated by the red arrow in the following graphic).



  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until all programs you want to remove have been uninstalled.
  8. When you finish removing programs, close the Programs and Features window.
  9. If prompted to do so, reboot your computer.
