WebQuests as Standards-Based Lessons

Part 4: Designing WebQuests

Okay, now for the fun! We'll be using this WebQuest Planning Sheet (a Word document) to record your plans. (Right click to save it to disk and then edit it in Word)

1. First, let's pick a topic and a task. This should be something that is difficult to teach in other ways, takes advantage of online resources and is tied to the standards. Use this rating sheet to help guide you. If you need them, the Delaware standards can be found at http://www.delawise.org/ or at http://www.doe.state.de.us/DPIServices/DOE_Standards.htm

2. Next, we'll develop the evaluation criteria. There are numerous suggestions at Rubrics for Web Lessons. We'll start building your evaluations using this Rubric Form. (Right click to save it to disk and then edit it in Word)

3. Finding resources both on and off line. Some useful places that catalog student appropriate materials are these.

Of course, you can also use the usual search tools.

Google Ask Jeeves Yahooligans!

4. Finally, develop the process that students can use to complete the finished product and add a conclusion that anchors what they've learned and links it to future learning. This rating sheet will help you strengthen the process.
