Portfolio Requirements

  1. Annotated list of useful Internet resources, including web pages, gopher sites, listservs, and newsgroups. Your entry should include a brief review (1 or 2 sentences) and the method of getting to this (either a URL, a subscription description, etc.)

  2. Subscribe to two or three listservs and follow them for a few days to assess their usefulness. Include a report on these.

  3. Tour several of the K12.* newsgroups and others to compare the quality of their contents. Compare the use of Netscape to trn for reading the newsgroups. Include brief comments on these.

  4. The local newsgroup udel.educ.schools has been set up for several years but has little traffic. Post at least one message or response to that group.

  5. Include an Acceptable Use Policy of your own making or one you have gotten from the Web and amended to fit your school's needs. With this should be a brief explanation of how you intend to implement the policy in your school setting.

  6. A list of useful Web search tools with your assessment of what each one is good for. Your assessment should include an indication of who each tool would be useful for.

  7. Choose or develop or adapt a Web evaluation tool. Use it to evaluate a Web site of your choosing.
