Newsgroups

Here are some newsgroups you can use to find out about biology topics:

First type "trn" (without the quotes), instead of typing "pine" at the prompt. This gets you into the newsgroups.

You can hit return and get into all the newsgroups or you can type a specific newsgroup after trn and go directly there.

Here are some:

• bionet.general (this is general discussion on topics)
• bionet.journals.contents (this gives an outline of topics)
• bionet.journals.note (advice)
• sci.bio (general biology discussion)
• sci.bio.ecology (well...?)
• more bionet stuff
• even more bionet

(Be careful, some are not so nice)

• IMPORTANT: DO NOT JUST EMAIL BIO "EXPERTS" TO TRY TO GET INFO THAT YOU CAN FIND IN THE LIBRARY! USE NEWSGROUPS TO ASK WHERE TO GO FOR INFO OR TO POSE GENERAL QUESTIONS OR TO READ WHAT OTHERS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT A TOPIC.
