  • Participated in the Avon Grove Technology Fair
    • Prepared exhibit of student artwork and set up equipment for display of student projects
    • Involved AGE students in creating products in KidPix, HotShots, Power Point, and iMovie.
    • Compiled projects completed by students at the Technology Fair onto a CD to share. (Let Michelle know if you'd like a copy.)
  • Updated the Resource Web Page to include more curriculum topic sites.
  • Searched for and identified appropriate ocean animal research sites for third grade students and provided lists of links for eachers.

  • Conducted a mini-workshop on how to use the digital camcorders with 4th grade teachers (so they could record highlights of their Harrisburg field trip)
  • Developed additional flip book pages:
    • Accessing The Sexual Harassment Modules on the Web
    • Using Your Address Book in Netscape
    • Accessing Your E-Mail From the Web
  • Conducted additional open lab "Meet and Geek" sessions.

  • Worked with 5th grade students to gather video footage documenting their use of the mobile labs.

  • Conducted a mini-workshop on using AppleWorks in place of PrintShop for creating banners, signs, etc.
  • Developed additional handouts on use of software applications and posted them in the Technology Handouts Folder:

    • MSWordDoc.Design-PC
  • Conducted additional open lab "Meet and Geek" sessions.
  • Held follow-up meetings with grade levels to assist teachers in using the network server with the AppleWorks Book Inventory Database.

  • Developed a handout on Document Design in MS Word that includes instructions for using columns, drawing tools, and tables.
  • Conducted additional open lab "Meet and Geek" sessions.
  • Developed a language arts book inventory database to be used school wide.
  • Met with grade levels to train teachers in using network server and the Appleworks Database.
  • Created addition FLIP book pages: Using the Appleworks Database, Sending an E-mail Attachment, and Creating Screen Shots on a Macintosh.
  • Continued to post information and discussion starters to our school technology listserv.
  • Updated the Teacher Resource Web Page to include Teacher Tools and Educational Technology Integration resources.

  • Worked in third grade classrooms to introduce mobile labs to students:
  • Modeled correct procedures for using laptops
    • Demonstrate use of the NEC projector with teacher laptop
    • Assisted students in setting up individual teacher folders on the desktops
    • Instructed students in using Inspiration software to create a pre-write web for writing a paragraph.

  • Developed the initial “FLIP” Book pages (an ongoing reference to keep at the computer to help with desktop management, e-mail, and other basic tasks).
  • Met with grade levels to introduce the beginning of our "FLIP" Books and how to participate in the technology listserv.
  • Brainstormed with grade level groups to develop a list of future training needs.
  • Conducted additional open lab "Meet and Geek" sessions.
  • Prepared a faculty meeting “Tech Time” and distributed additional FLIP book pages.
  • Sent listserv invitations to staff members
  • Posted starter topics and participated in discussions (ex. Importing an address book, copyright issues, sharing web site resources)
  • Met with our Technology Aide and Building Principal to develop policy on the maintenance and use of the mobile labs.

What did you do this month?

  • Developed the initiatives for our building including
    • "Tech Talks" at faculty meetings, which include F.L.I.P. (Feeling Less Intimidated by Procedures) resource books.
    • Hold after-school "Meet and Geek" open lab times and after-school application specific workshops.
    • Provide print and online resources including a school-wide technology listserv, books, software, and web page.
    • Meet directly with teachers to integrated technology in their classroom.
  • Met with our principal to discuss initiatives.
  • Researched available online tools for evaluation of staff technology use.
  • Developed a self-evaluation instrument for staff use of technology.
  • Introduced the Lead Technology Teacher Program at a faculty meeting
    • Described the planned initiatives at our school using a Power Point presentation
    • Introduced and distributed the staff technology use self-evaluation document.
  • Brainstormed topics for after school workshops and collaboration meetings with grade levels.
  • Conducted our first after-school open lab "Meet and Geek" session.  Eight teachers attended and were able to get help with using e-mail, file management, creating tables and labels in Microsoft Word, and using the library catalogue program.
  • Created our school technology listserv (age_tech@yahoogroups.com).
  • Assigned responsibility for three grade levels to each lead teacher.  Scheduled curriculum planning time meetings with those grade levels.
