      Dr. Massaro made it clear in Administrative Study Council this week that principals should budget from their 2006-2007 building allocations for replacement of computers and some other technology needs in their buildings.  This may present a challenge to the systems approach we use now to administer the technology program unless we establish some guidelines for who is responsible for doing what.  The challenge is:  How can we ensure that a district-wide perspective on technology acquisition and maintenance is maintained? What group/mechanism can we use to ensure a district-wide perspective? Even though some of the funding for technology purchases comes from building budgets, we still need to have the technology staff in the loop on maintaining inventory, replacing equipment, software purchases, and other issues related to the district Technology Plan (that is currently under review).
