2004 - 2005
November 15 , 2004
3:45 - 5:15 p.m
Location: District Office
- Introductions -- All schools were represented by one or more ITLTs.
- Report on ACTS grant -- Pat McKeown
- Pat reported that she and Karen Norris participated in training for the Aligning Curriculum to Standards (PA) project. They received training on 9 modules that have been developed by the IUs to be used in district level training. Over the rest of the school year, Karen and Pat will deliver training to 45 teachers in AGSD.
- Training in AGSD will start with the mentee teachers. The grant requires that all teachers start with modules 1 & 2. However, because of the emphasis and preparation in technology within the district over the past few years, this is largely redundant. Instead, Karen and Pat will tailor the material and move the teachers quickly to more advance modules. Teachers who participate get Act48 credit and must commit to at least 8 hours.
- In addtion, Pat has been filmed for a Best Practices website. This should be up shortly.
- Communications successes -- Pat
- After considerable conversation, a couple of concerns emerged:
- How do we get to people who are afraid to ask for help? One possibility is to always have a suggestion, especially based on a question asked by a colleague of the person you are talking to.
- Another problem is that those most in need are seeking immediate help. AGHS has published the available times of each of the ITLTs and this has been helpful. AGIS ITLT's are based in the individual houses so their times coincide with their colleagues. FEMS and PLE will also be publishing their available times.
- AG Tech Fair -- Craig and Linda
- Based on last year's success the date for the 2005 Tech Fair will be Feb 24 from 6-7:30 immediately preceeding the School Board meeting.
- Computer Fair -- Joyce announced this year's HS computer fair. The complete details can be found at www.PAComputerFair.org
- School updates
- PLE
- Create a customized disk with United Streaming movies for teachers to use with their grade level. Look at playlist feature.
- AGIS
- The survey will be sent out and we will determine what the needs are. Based on the results, we will develop an action plan. Survey will be delivered via surveymonkey.com
- New PC issues:
- Right now each teach has to sign on to print from the PC. Is there a way to connect the PC to the network so anyone can print from them?
- Teachers expect us to support them while using new programs. However, many times we are unware that the programs have been installed and we have not been trained how to use them.
- HS
- Would it be possible to access teacher network folders from home?(Brady)
- Creation of network drive containing all student folders (organized by grade) that only teachers could access. This way we could grade their assignments, make corrections, or e-mail their work home to them (since there is no other way for them to get assignments home). (Zook)
- Create another network drive that would contain folders for each department. The folders would be read-only for the students. Teachers could have worksheets, templates, examples, and other materials that the students could get to from anywhere in the building. (Zook)
- Use of a Smartboard or Activeboard in high school classes could prove to be very beneficial. Any way we could get a mobile unit? (Zook)
- Please help me fix the mobile library lab’s agsd problem with several PCs. (Forba-Mayer)
- Next meeting -- January 10 -- Snow date: January 24
