April 20 , 2004
3:45 - 5:15 p.m
Location: AGIS Staff Development Room
- Agenda for "Educator Pilot" - Joyce
- Joyce demonstrated this project which allows teachers to utilize this online course management system. If teachers like this, a license be aquired for use beyond the evaluation period.
- Update on the ACTs Grant - Joyce with comments from Pat McKeon, Karen Norris, and Shirley Schenker
- There are really 2 parts to this:
- The IU has developed 9 modules and the district volunteers are being trained to deliver modules 1 and 2 to 45 teachers each in the next school year. It was the consensus that based on the work we've already done in Avon Grove, it would be appropriate to go quickly through the introductory modules and focus on the more curriculum based units, such as the one on WebQuests.
- The second part is development of videos of best practices using technology. Pat McKeon is the district choice for this one.
- During discussion about the web pages, Joyce mentioned that Fireworks is the district's solution for manipulating graphics. Joyce has a cheat sheet that she'll circulate to the group.
- Olivia sent a note to the group asking about who wanted to repeat next year. During discussion at the meeting, we also asked that schools that had reps stepping down also think about who would take on the tasks next year. If we know who the new folks will be, it would be great to have them at the June meeting.
- Olivia asked about surveying teachers regarding the effectiveness of the ITLT project. Joyce is going to cull out the answers we received in the enGuage survey. Also, Karen has to do a survey project for her grad class and is going to use the assignment to fill this need. She'll be circulating the questions shortly.
With regards to administrators, it seems that the FEMS and PLE administration is fully engaged in the process, but some work needs to be done on communication in AGIS and the HS.
