  1. Craig - Online grade books

Craig introduced the topic as requested. The district currently licenses InteGrade Pro, which serves as a networked gradebook tied to SASI and provides a web interface for parents and students to view grades. Craig reports that West Chester is now using InteGrade Pro at all grade levels.   They are also working on a using InteGrade Pro for standards-based reporting using the "skills" option. Craig supports providing wider web access to both the gradebook and attendance data.

The High School reported that about 25 teachers in HS using InteGrade Pro for grades. However, they are not pleased with the way web reporting is implemented since it exposes the whole teacher gradebook, which is often used as a changing record. They would be very much in favor of a site that gave parents access to grades at specific times. Craig was requested to stay on the look out for programs that offer this kind of option or to see if there are more options to manage parent access.

The Middle School is using teacherweb.org for regular parent communication. Every teacher has a page which is updated with daily assignments. HS and MS reps agreed that this was more valuable to parents and teachers to help in planning to get the work done more than reporting afterwards.

At PLE, MT is working on standards-based report card.   The new card now exists as a Word template, which each teacher manages on the desktop.    AGIS will be adapting this for their standards-based reporting next year. Using what PLE has learned about standards-based reporting,  MT and Craig should meet to discuss how InteGrade Pro can be used for standards-based reporting to get centralized control of the data.

  1. Joyce - Update on Pennsylvania High School Computer Fair

    • Joyce and Mary reported on the committee meeting they had attended. The HS has participated in this for several yearl

  2. Craig - District response to spam. The following is from Craig's note of 11/10

Tom Super from Summit joined the group and reiterated many of the points from Craig's note. Of particular interest was the strategy for making sure good addresses get through. The system is set so that any address to which mail is sent from the district gets moved to a whitelist. It would be a good idea to send a note to vendors you want to receive ads from and to parents with addresses like yahoo.com or hotmail.com which might get caught in the filter.

FEMS mentioned that they have posted an explanation of what might and might not get through on their website.

  3. Highlights and questions from monthly reports
    • PLE asked how equipment is distributed in the schools and PLE and AGHS both wanted to know about printer cartridges
      • Equipment distribution
        • AGIS, HS and FEMS all have the equipment barcoded and entered into the library system.
        • AGIS -- request goes to Web help desk and tech aides distribute
        • HS -- has both dept-based equipment and school-based, which is handled by Charleen through the library
        • FEMS -- handled through library
        • PLE -- Leigh Anna is handling but would like barcoding and library support. Based on practice at other 3 schools, PLE will go back to discuss this with the principal and librarian.

      • Printing costs
        • cartridges are either a school or department expense; HS will continue to negotiate what gets printed where and who pays

  4. The date for the AGIS Computer Fair has been tentatively set for 2/28

  5. Next meeting -- 1/29 with a snow date of 2/3; Major topic will be priorities for the tech budget.
