3:45 - 5:15 p.m,
Location: AGIS audion
- Tech
Fair update
-
Scheduled for 4/26 from 10 to 2 at AGIS
- Christine,
Joyce and Craig will be organizing with Christine taking the
lead.
- Christine
will send a list of who participated in last year's Tech Fair
so that the ITLTs can gather more volunteers or bring back
last year's group.
- Christine
informed the group that
- all
tech aides will be available to work at the conference
- Tom
from Summit will be onsite all day to make sure the network
doesn't fail
- Apple
and Dell have agreed to provide T-shirts
- And,
most importantly, arrangements for pizza and soda have
been completed!
- Web
Policy
- It
was clarified that the when the web maintainers receive pictures
to post, they can/should assume that the included individuals
are approved.
- The
middle school has a record of who has permission in a file
on the Intranet. However, this is not going to be the universal
solution. Eventually, this will be all recorded in SASI.
- The
question still remains about the dividing line between "group
shots" which don't require individual student approval
and those that do. For example, the question was raised of
a team shot where the students are lined up. The current solution
is to blur out individuals without permission. While this
makes the picture look a bit silly, it also may be just the
nudge that the parents need to complete the forms.
- The
current policy states
that updates to teacher's pages that are limited to homework
or calendar changes do NOT have to be reviewed. However, this
seems to be in conflict with current practice with regard
to hard copy items. The ITLTs recommended that there be guidelines
but that the final practice be worked out by each administrator/principal
for his or her staff.
- Teacher

- ITLT
replacements
- The
integration of technology across the curriculum in my school
would be best served if I continued to serve as an ITLT/was
replaced as ITLT by a new staff member because that would
enable us to ....
- The
ITLTs made several recommendations regarding the continuation
of the program
- The
web coordinator position should not be the same as the
ITLT position for several reasons. a) the added time needed;
b) the added responsibility when becoming an ITLT already
seems overwhelming; and c) the skill sets required for
each job are different (web requires technical emphasis;
ITLT requires educational emphasis)
- Craig
showed off a sample Web-based help desk that the district is
considering for managing tech help calls. To preview, take a
look at webhelpdesk.com
Follow the link to the online demo and use the passwords supplied
there to try this out.
- Next
meeting will be April 22. Location TBA
