Secure UD News: January 2024

Happy Data Privacy Day! Data Privacy Day is an international event that occurs every year on January 28. The purpose of Data Privacy Day is to raise awareness and promote privacy and data protection best practices. We invite you to discover the latest on how generative AI impacts your privacy, how humans are often the weakest link in security protections, and why you should not use your UD email for personal business.

Read about recent incidents involving inappropriate uses or disclosures of confidential information, the consequences, and how we can prevent them.

Generative AI and Privacy

What does data privacy mean to you? What do you agree to and what are you comfortable with sharing personally knowing that both AI and fraudsters are becoming more advanced? What does the University agree to share with vendors and third parties who use generative AI?

Get answers to these questions and learn how to stay on the cutting edge of AI while safeguarding the privacy of your data.

One Email Address Is Never Enough

Because we all spend so much time on our UD systems, it may be tempting to use your UD email address for personal purposes, even for online shopping. And even though this practice may seem convenient and secure, it is ill-advised, and, more importantly, in violation of UD policy.

Learn about UD’s policy on university-owned computing resources, how to maintain professionalism and privacy with your email, and email security best practices.
