A data custodian is a University employee or unit who has the operational responsibility to manage a shared data repository on behalf of a data steward.
Data custodians are broadly responsible for managing technical access to shared data repositories, which are collections of University information to which multiple individuals or entities have access. Data custodians facilitate data use by end users. Access must be requested by unit heads in compliance with data stewards' policies, rules, and procedures.
