My name is Marisa DeAngelis and I'm from Northfield, NJ, a town right outside of Atlantic City. I'm a freshman majoring in Elementary Education. My father, John, is Italian and Scotish. His father's parents cmae to America from Italy, and his mother's parents came to America from Scotland. My mother, Lorie, is French and German. Her maiden name is Geant, which is French. Her father's parents came here from France and her mother's parents came here from Germany. Although I have an Italian last name, I have a lot of different national backgrounds.
Northfield, the city I live in, is a suburb surrounded by beach towns, and it is a predominantly white town. The high school I attended, Mainland Regional High School, is predominatly white. I only had experiences to interact with other cultures and races through playing sports. By playing sports I was able to go to other schools to play, and I got to experience what other schools were like that here more culturally inclined.
