We guaranteed 2017-18 housing for students as long as they applid by the published deadlines. Students are bound to the Student Housing Contract 3 business days after being placed on the guaranteed wait list.
On-campus housing is not guaranteed for late returning student applicants. Students will be guaranteed on a rolling basis and accommodated as spaces become available.
Students who place their name on the wait list should understand that the list is managed on a first-come, first-served basis. An application is considered complete when the student signs the Student Housing Contract and completes the housing prepayment.
Residence Life & Housing will consider a variety of factors in determining who should be invited to fill available vacancies, including DSS housing accommodations, distance from home, academic year, etc.
Students with unique or individual personal circumstances that they wish to have considered are invited to outline their situation in an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will review the requests and make a determination based on availability.
When will the application reopen for Late Returning Students?
The housing application for returning students re-opened on March 1, 2017. The application in My Housing is now closed, but you are welcome to complete a paper application. Contact us for more information.
When students have completed the housing application, they will be added to a wait list and should expect to hear from us regarding any change in the status of their application.
Are students on the wait list guaranteed a specific “room/space” and can they choose their roommate(s)?
Please be aware that while we guarantee students a space on campus, we do not guarantee a specific location or preferred roommates.
What if a student doesn't wish to remain on the Guaranteed Wait List?
If students do not prefer to remain on the guaranteed wait list, but seek off-campus housing, they need to complete a Request for Release form in the My Housing portal. The $200 prepayment for 2017-2018 housing is non-refundable.
Requests for release are typically processed within 48 hours. Students are advised NOT to sign an off-campus lease until AFTER their request is approved. All approvals are e-mailed to the student from ResLife-Housing@udel.edu.
After April 1, 2017, the release fees detailed in the Student Housing Contract are applicable for 2017-2018 housing.
Off-campus housing choices are more plentiful the earlier they begin looking. Information about off-campus housing opportunities is available from the Office of the Dean of Students.
