We guaranteed 2018-19 housing for students as long as they applied by the published deadlines. Students will be bound to the Student Housing Contract 3 business days after being placed on the guaranteed waitlist.
On-campus housing is not guaranteed for late returning student applicants. Students will be guaranteed on a rolling basis and accommodated as spaces become available.
Students who place their name on the waitlist should understand that the list is managed on a first-come, first-served basis. An application is considered complete when the student signs the Student Housing Contract and completes the housing prepayment.
Residence Life & Housing will consider a variety of factors in determining who should be invited to fill available vacancies, including DSS housing accommodations, distance from home, academic year, etc.
Students with unique or individual personal circumstances that they wish to have considered are invited to outline their situation in an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will review the requests and make a determination based on availability.
When will the application reopen for late returning students?
The housing application for returning students re-opened on March 1, 2018.
When students have completed the housing application, they will be added to a waitlist and should expect to hear from us regarding any change in the status of their application.
When a student’s status changes and they are placed on the guaranteed waitlist, they will be sent an email with further instructions. Students should watch their email for this correspondence; 3 days after placement on the guaranteed waitlist, students are bound to the Student Housing Contract.
Are students on the waitlist guaranteed a specific “room/space” and can they choose their roommate(s)?
Please be aware that while we guarantee students a space on campus, we do not guarantee a specific location or preferred roommates.
What if a student doesn't wish to remain on the Guaranteed Waitlist?
If students don't want to remain on the guaranteed waitlist, but instead seek off-campus housing, they need to complete a Request for Release form in the My Housing portal. The $200 prepayment is non-refundable.
Requests for release are typically processed within 48 hours. Students are advised NOT to sign an off-campus lease until AFTER their request is approved. All approvals are e-mailed to the student from email@example.com.
After April 2, 2018, the release fees detailed in the Student Housing Contract are applicable for 2018-2019 housing.
Off-campus housing choices are more plentiful the earlier students begin looking. Information about off-campus housing opportunities is available from the Office of the Dean of Students.
Places 4 Students provides both off-campus listings and sublet opportunities for University of Delaware students.
When will Students be offered an assignment?
Students will be offered an assignment when a space becomes available.
