Undergraduate: General Information

On-campus housing for undergraduate students is guaranteed for 2017-2018 if we receive your application by the posted deadline.

All students should review the Student Housing Contract.


CURRENT FIRST-YEAR RETURNING STUDENTS

Application
There are two application periods for first-year students applying for guaranteed SECOND-YEAR HOUSING for 2017-2018:

  • Early Bird Application: October 3 - October 31, 2016
    Students will complete the first steps of the housing application and will be guaranteed housing for 2017-2018, but will need to return in February to complete the application.
  • Open Enrollment: February 1 - February 28, 2017
    Students who applied in October will finish additional steps of the housing application. Students who missed the Early Bird application can also apply.

Room Self-Selection
A self-select feature works like selecting an airline or concert seat, which means students will need to be prepared to act when their time slot opens in March in order to get their preferred option.

Guaranteed Housing Deadline for Second-Year Housing for 2017-2018: February 28, 2017

Applications received after the deadline will be accommodated as space permits.


CURRENT UPPER-DIVISION STUDENTS

Application
Upper-division students applied for guaranteed 2017-2018 housing during UPPER-DIVISION OPEN ENROLLMENT September 1 – September 30, 2016.

Guaranteed Housing Deadline for Upper-Division students 2017-2018: September 30, 2016

Applications received after the deadline will be accommodated as space permits.

March Guarantee Enrollment: March 1 - March 31, 2017
Students who transferred to the University for Spring 2017 as upper-division students can apply for guaranteed 2017-2018 housing.

Applications received after the deadline will be accommodated as space permits.


ASSOCIATE IN ARTS TRANSITIONING STUDENTS

    Application
    Associate in Arts Program students were invited to apply for upper-division 2017-2018 housing during UPPER-DIVISION OPEN ENROLLMENT, September 1 – September 30, 2016.

    AAP students can also apply March 1 - March 31, 2017 for guaranteed housing for 2017-2018.

Guaranteed Housing Deadline for Associate in Arts students 2017-2018: March 31, 2017

Applications received after the deadline will be accommodated as space permits.


INCOMING FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS

Single freshmen under 21 are required to live in University housing, or at home with a parent or legal guardian if the residence is within a 30-mile commuting distance.

Requests for exceptions to this policy must be submitted in writing to Residence Life & Housing.

Planning to commute from home within a 30-mile distance? Complete the 2017-18 First Year Commuter Confirmation Google form. Parent/guardian confirmation may be requested.

The housing application for 2017-2018 opened on March 1.

Housing assignments are NOT first-come, first-served. When completing the housing application, please be aware that there are a number of factors that determine where you live on campus. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that you will receive your top preferences.

TRANSFER STUDENTS

The on-campus housing application for transfer students for 2017-2018 opened on March 1.

Please go to the Transfer Guide for more information on applying for housing for 2017-2018.

Spring 2017 Transfer students applying for 2017-2018 housing will apply as Current Upper Division students and are guaranteed 2017-2018 housing as long as they apply March 1 - 31, 2017.

Guaranteed Housing Deadline for Transfer Housing for 2017-2018: July 14, 2017

Applications received after the deadline will be accommodated as space permits.

Graduate Student and Family Housing

If you are a full-time, single graduate student or a full-time undergraduate or graduate student who wishes to live with your spouse, children, or other individuals who constitute your family, you are eligible to live in Graduate Student & Family Housing as long as you are registered and in good academic standing at the University of Delaware.

Students enrolled in 4+1 progams at the University of Delaware should use the Upper Division Returning Student application process and timeline.

Students who are current residents of Graduate Student & Family housing applied in October 2016 for 2017-2018 housing.
Everyone who applied by October 31 took part in a lottery in early November to determine who received a room assignment and who was placed on the non-guaranteed wait list.

Students who are new applicants for Graduate Student & Family housing can apply in March - May 2017 for 2017-2018 housing.
Everyone who applies March 1 - May 31 will take part in a lottery in early June to determine who receives a room assignment and who is placed on the non-guaranteed wait list.
