Horseshoe Crabs

The Horseshoe Crab

— The premier horseshoe crab site maintained by the Ecological Research and Development Group, a wildlife conservation organization whose primary focus is the conservation of the world’s four remaining horseshoe crab species.

The Horseshoe Crab Unit

— Developed by Delaware teachers for 5th graders. Focuses on horseshoe crab protection and connections to the local environment and the economy.

Green Eggs and Sand

— Four educational modules to help students understand the horseshoe crab, its role in the Delaware Bay ecosystem, how humans use horseshoe crabs, and the issues surrounding management of this resource. Modules consist of video clips and field and classroom opportunities that can be adapted for all grade levels. Several people serve as contacts for this program, which was developed through a partnership of agencies.
