OK, here we have again two males, and if you look closely, you’ll notice the one in my left hand is very shiny, a very lustrous, olive-looking coat versus the one in my right hand which is really dark and starting to turn dull. This is a very young animal, probably just first year maybe, second year on the beach, so he’s probably somewhere between 8 and 10 years old. This animal is probably 15 or more years old and the wear and tear of the sand and the ocean is starting to take effect and that’s why you’re getting the lustrous coat being eroded and the animal turning black in color.
