December 10, 2020
Dear students,
Congratulations on reaching the end of a semester unlike any other. I hope you are looking forward to a restful and restorative break with loved ones and to a slate of fresh beginnings in 2021.
If you plan to transition households these next few weeks, I recommend taking a COVID-19 test to confirm your status before you travel. Available tests include:
Visit the links above for the test of your choice to make an appointment. Lewes campus students can find a testing location near them or request an at-home testing kit from the state of Delaware. Additional testing information can be found at udel.edu/coronavirus.
Once UD reopens Jan. 3 after the fall break, COVID-19 tests will be required if you will be on campus for any purpose. This applies to all undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs and employees. This test must be completed at a UD surveillance testing site during your first week back on campus. More information will be announced soon. Individuals should be mindful to avoid contact with other people while awaiting COVID-19 test results, but are permitted on campus while test results are pending. You will need to complete your daily health check to show proof of clearance to enter facilities on the date of entry.
Student Health Services will be closed for a period during the upcoming fall break and Winter Session (Dec. 19 - Jan. 19). This will not impact surveillance test availability, and medical advice remains available to all students whenever SHS is closed by calling 302-831-2226, or 800-681-3957 directly. As always, call 911 in a medical emergency and be sure to tell the dispatcher if you suspect or know that you are COVID positive. More information about after-hours and emergency care can be found here.
Whether you will be attending UD in person or remotely in the months ahead, we look forward to connecting with you and supporting your success. Thank you for all you have done thus far to Protect the Flock and may the best of 2021 await you.
Be well,
Dr. Tim Dowling, physician and director
