Dear UD Community,

We had quite a week highlighted by the Class of 2022 Commencement last Saturday! As we close another academic year and say goodbye to our fellow Blue Hens who now leave campus to make their mark on the world, this video says it all. The power of the UD experience, impact and purpose will forever be a part of all of us, no matter whether we are standing on the brick walkways of The Green or at some far corner of the world.

I was so moved at the Commencement Ceremony to be together in person with many members of our community once again. And to have the President of the United States be with all of us during such a difficult time for our nation — with one tragedy following another at the cost of innocent lives — was both meaningful and momentous. His important message reminded us that democracy is a human enterprise, and that the new generation, YOUR generation, will be a critical unifier in the creation of possibility, prosperity, decency and dignity.

I am forever inspired by the promise of this University’s future — and our nation’s future — in the hands of so many talented, passionate and determined people who will never give up and always persevere in the spirit of purpose and the power of progress.

Whether you graduated last week or not, I congratulate all of you on the completion of the 2021-22 academic year, and I wish you all the best for an enjoyable and productive summer ahead.
