Dear UD Faculty, Staff and Students,

Our collective resiliency, resourcefulness, kindness, hard work and willingness to adapt to rapid change have once again demonstrated the power of community at the University of Delaware. As we continue to act proactively and responsibly, I am certain we will persevere through the challenging situation that the coronavirus pandemic has presented to the world.

Our number one priority as we make decisions during this time of transition continues to be the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff; this includes the financial safety and security of all of our employees.

To this end, the University has instituted a COVID-19 Pandemic Pay Protocol, which will be in effect for the remainder of the Spring Semester, from March 30, through May 31, 2020. During this period, all active full-time and part-time employees, including our student employees, will receive their regular pay.  Additional information can be found here. As we collectively work to address shifting priorities to support operational continuity, we appreciate everyone’s flexibility to adapt and possibly apply their skills and talents in new and different ways to address emerging needs necessitated by the COVID-19 situation.

I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we work through these challenges as a community. The University is also connecting with the greater Delaware community, from supporting health care professionals with supplies and equipment to contributing research expertise to make progress possible for a healthier future. Please remember that we will only be successful in this pursuit if everyone continues to follow the guidelines outlined by the State of Delaware and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Take care of yourself and those around you.

Our people are the lifeblood of the University of Delaware, and I thank you for your continued cooperation, engagement and support.

Sincerely,
