May 11, 2020

Dear Class of 2020,

As the spring semester winds down, I am pleased to announce our plans for celebrating you — the University of Delaware’s Class of 2020! I invite you and your families to join the University leadership, faculty, alumni and, most importantly, your classmates online on Saturday, May 30, at 11 am, for the Blue Hen Celebration: Honoring UD’s Class of 2020.

During your time at UD, you have come so far in your education and have made such a positive impact on our community. I truly wish we could be celebrating at our traditional Commencement and Convocation ceremonies later this month, but, as you know, we had to postpone those events in the interest of the health and safety of everyone involved. I sincerely hope we can reschedule in-person events later this year, if the public health situation will allow. I will provide an update on that in June. In the meantime, we want to ensure that the Class of 2020 gets a meaningful send-off in true Blue Hen fashion!

The Blue Hen Celebration will be an exciting, inspiring and unique online event created especially for UD’s Class of 2020. Together, we will look back at some of the moments and memories that shaped your class and look ahead to your limitless potential as proud UD alumni.

We need your help make this event the best it can be. Go to udel.edu/udgrad2020 to see all the details about the Blue Hen Celebration. There you can record a short video message, share it and see messages from your friends and classmates. Use #UDGrad2020 on social media to connect with your class. Then, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, join the Blue Hen Celebration online for a 30-minute interactive experience.

Though we cannot be together on campus, I am still looking forward to gathering with you in Blue Hen spirit to recognize your accomplishments and your degrees, and to celebrate the beginning of this next chapter of your lives. See you then!

Sincerely,
