Dear UD Community,
Fifty years ago today, we lost civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Memphis, Tennessee. His passionate call to “let freedom ring” continues to reverberate across our nation and around the world even today.
In memory of Dr. King’s life, the University of Delaware Carillon will toll at 7:05 p.m. throughout our Newark campus. The bells will ring 39 times, once for each year that Dr. King was alive. Similar memorials will take place at institutions throughout the United States at the same moment this evening.
As we pause to remember Dr. King’s legacy, let us recommit ourselves to realizing his dream of equality, freedom and justice for all.
Sincerely,
|
