Dear UD Community,

The terrible event last night in Las Vegas — the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history — is disturbing and heartbreaking. As our nation seeks to understand how and why this happened, our thoughts and condolences are with the victims, their loved ones and everyone affected by this senseless tragedy.

In the wake of such events, it is not unusual to feel anxious or concerned. Please know that the University offers many resources and services. The UD Helpline (302-831-1001) is available for students feeling troubled, overwhelmed, depressed or otherwise in need of counseling. For faculty and staff, UD provides the Employee Assistance Program (800-343-2186).

While we may feel helpless in these times, we should never forget that we all have the power to build a stronger community through our compassionate actions.

Sincerely,
