Changes to UD retirement criteria

Effective July 1, 2021, the University of Delaware retirement eligibility criteria will change. The new criteria, known as the Rule of 80, require that age and service years combined must equal 80 for employees to be eligible for the University’s retirement benefits. Minimum age and service criteria apply and are detailed on the Retirement page of the HR website. Faculty and staff impacted by this change have received communication from Human Resources. Information sessions will be held March 19-21. Learn more.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA) deadline today

For employees enrolled in a 2017 FSA through ASIFlex, today marks the end of the grace period to continue incurring expenses. Participants must file any outstanding claims for reimbursement by May 1. Any remaining unused balance from the 2017 plan year will be forfeited at the end of the grace period, per IRS regulations. Learn more about FSAs including eligible expenses and how to submit a claim.

Resources for search committees

Search committees play a vital role in evaluating and recommending the most qualified candidates for employment by the University. Committee members are often the first employees that a candidate will meet. Each has an opportunity to represent UD as a diverse and welcoming community while carrying out the search in accordance with University procedures. All staff search participants should review the online Search Committee Training. The UD ADVANCE Institute offers resources and workshops specifically for faculty hiring committees. Both HR and UD ADVANCE are available for consultation, to answer questions and offer recommendations.
