Open Enrollment Ending on Friday, May 26

Annual open enrollment is going on now and ends on May 26, 2017. Please log into Flexnet to review and update your benefit elections for the plan year effective July 1.

Important information for open enrollment:
Medical plan changes effective July 1st.

  • The Highmark IPA\HMO and the Highmark CDH Gold plans will no longer be offered.
  • Aetna will continue to administer the CDH Gold and HMO plans.
  • Highmark will continue to administer the First State Basic PPO Plan

Participants currently enrolled in the Highmark IPA/HMO or the CDH Gold plans are encouraged to take action during open enrollment to select a new health plan. If no action is taken, participants will automatically be defaulted into the equivalent Aetna plan.

Important: IPA/HMO members are required to select a Primary Care Provider (PCP). Employees who default or enroll in the Aetna HMO plan and do not select a PCP during Open Enrollment will have one assigned to them by Aetna. Find your doctor through Aetna DocFind.

If switching from Highmark to Aetna and covering dependent children, a new Aetna Dependent Coordination form is required.

Spousal Coordination

If you carry your spouse on a medical plan, you must complete a Spousal Coordination of Benefits Form every year during open enrollment. Please go to the following link and provide the requested information through the online form on the Statewide Benefits website at https://cob.ben.omb.delaware.gov/ . Failure to comply with this policy will result in a reduction in spousal benefits.

Aetna in the News

Aetna's decision to discontinue participation in Delaware's health insurance marketplace beginning in 2018 does NOT impact Aetna's relationship with the State of Delaware or apply to the Aetna plans (HMO and CDH Gold) offered through the State Group Health Insurance Program (GHIP).

Benefits and Wellness Fair

Thank you for attending the annual Benefits and Wellness Fair on May 18, where nearly 2,000 faculty, staff and retirees attended. More than 40 vendors, including benefits providers, nonprofit health agencies and internal UD organizations attended to answer questions regarding benefits and provide helpful resources. As part of the fair, UD Employee Health & Wellbeing sponsored the Screening Zone where many were able to participate in a variety of health screenings.

University of Delaware Retirement Program Transition

The transition of the University of Delaware Retirement Program, which includes the 403(b) and 457(b) plans, has been delayed to January 1, 2018. The launch of the refined investment lineup will be the first phase of the new program, and will go into effect on September 1, 2017.
