You have been identified as being enrolled in one of the Highmark Delaware plans (IPA/HMO or CDH Gold), which will no longer be available as of the new plan year effective 7/1/2017 as outlined in the May 10 email (see below).

If you do not make an election, you and/or your dependent(s) will automatically be defaulted into the equivalent Aetna plan.

Please make an election by logging on to http://www.udel.edu/flexnet by Friday, May 26th.

Dear Colleague:

Benefits Open Enrollment for 2017 is now underway and will run from May 10 through May 26. During this Open Enrollment period, you can confirm/change your benefits, effective July 1, by logging on to http://www.udel.edu/flexnet. Please review the 2017-2018 Benefits Guide, where you can learn what’s new for the 2017-2018 plan year.

New, effective July 1, 2017:

Health Insurance Plans:

  • There will be no increase in your health insurance premium.
  • The Highmark IPA/HMO and the Highmark CDH Gold plans will no longer be offered.
  • Aetna will continue to administer the CDH Gold and IPA/HMO Plan.
  • Highmark Delaware will continue to administer the First State Basic PPO Plan, the Comprehensive PPO Plan, and the Special Medicfill Medicare Supplement Plan.

Please Take Action

Participants who are in enrolled in the Highmark IPA/HMO or the CDH Gold plans are encouraged to take action during open enrollment to select a new health plan. If no action is taken, participants will automatically be defaulted into the equivalent Aetna plan. To choose a new plan, employees must log into Flexnet during Open Enrollment.

Dental Insurance Plan: The University continues to pay 100% of the cost for full-time employees.

Vision Insurance Plans: There will be no increase to vision premiums. The University continues to pay 100% of the employee-only cost for full-time employees.

Optional Life Insurance: There may be a premium increase for participants in the optional life insurance plan. Please review your rates and coverage in the MetLife portal.

Education Sessions: Retirement plan group sessions will be held during the Benefits & Wellness Fair in the Trabant University Center Theater, where you can learn more about the enhancements to the 403(b) plan. Look for more detailed information on these enhancements in the coming weeks.

Please remember to mark your calendar for our annual Fair to be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursday, May 18, 2017, in the Trabant University Center Multipurpose Room. As part of the May 18 Fair, UD Employee Health and Wellbeing is sponsoring the Screening Zone. You can use your Wellness dollars to participate in a variety of health screenings.
