Travel Directions

Located near the northern tip of Delaware, Newark is easily reached from five major metropolitan centers: Wilmington (twenty minutes), Philadelphia and Baltimore (about one hour), Washington, D.C. (two hours), and New York City (two and one-half hours).

The Trabant University Center can be found at the corner of E Main Street and S College Avenue.

By Car:
- From the north: I-95 south to Delaware Exit I-B, Route 896 north, and continue north on South College Avenue past the Bob Carpenter Sports/Convocation Center and Delaware stadium and field house until you reach E Main Street. Turn left there. The building with the overdimensioned columns at the left is the Trabant Center. Its parking garage is beyond it, just before the triple junction.
- From the south: I-95 north to Maryland Exit 109B, Route 279 north (also called Route 2). Proceed on this road, which becomes Elkton Road, into Newark. Turn right onto West Park Place to South College Avenue. Make a left onto South College Avenue. At the end, take a left turn onto Main Street. The building with the overdimensioned columns at the left is the Trabant Center. Its parking garage is beyond it, just before the triple junction.
By Air: Fly to Philadelphia International Airport, only fifty minutes away. Ground transportation to and from the campus is provided by Delaware Express (800-648-5466) and Airport Shuttle (302-655-8878).
By Train: AMTRAK trains run between Florida and New England and stop in Wilmington, DE. From the Wilmington train station, it is a 30-minute ride by DART bus to the campus in Newark, DE.
You can call AMTRAK at (800)523-8720 but you can also check the on-line schudeler.
Extremely limited AMTRAK service is also available to Newark. It runs approximately once a day, so don't count on that.
To go from Wilmington to Newark you will probably use DART bus Route 16 (an EXPRESS which only runs on weekdays). Slower alternatives are Route 6 or Route 33, which also run on Saturdays.

In Newark, try to get out as close as possible to the junction of Main Street and S. College Avenue. If that fails, the bus will automatically stop near the Municipal Building at the Elkton Road/Apple Road junction, which is a 5-minutes walk from the Trabant University Center (see the campus map).

A final note for people from Philadelphia: SEPTA Route R2 also runs to Wilmington.
By (long distance) Bus: Greyhound/ Trailways buses from Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and New York City travel to Wilmington. To obtain a bus schedule, phone Greyhound/Trailways at (302) 655-6111.
